2017 Conference ~ Cultural Kinship: The Caribbean’s Historic Influence on New Orleans Creole Culture

The theme of LA Creole’s 13th annual conference, Cultural Kinship: The Caribbean’s Historic Influence on New Orleans Creole Culture, was held at Xavier University of Louisiana. The theme was reflected in presentations by the speakers, jubilant entertainment by a steel drum band, a Second Line, the sharing and exchange of research, and other activities. Speakers included Dr. Ronald Dorris, Xavier University of Louisiana; Dr. Marky Jean-Pierre, Tulane University; Dr. Maurice Martinez, UNC Wilmington (professor emeritus); and Dr. Angel Adams Parham, Loyola University of New Orleans.
